When you plan your day, or your week, do you make time for yourself?
It can be easy to fill our days caring for others, going non-stop until we fall into bed, only to get up and do it again the next day. Over time this pattern will likely leave us exhausted and empty. I know it does for me!
It is important to take time for ourselves, preferably every day, but absolutely once or twice a week. I know it sounds hard, perhaps impossible. It did for me too, but I see and feel such a difference when I take even 10 minutes for myself. For me it is often stretching or reading (or doing both with an audio book), or listening to music. Sometimes it’s journaling or taking a bubble bath. When I can carve out more time, I might go hiking or work on craft projects.
When we are constantly drained of our energy, it is vital that we fill ourselves back up.
Today, I encourage you to take 10 minutes to brainstorm ways that you can fill yourself up. Just write down anything that comes to mind. Then, today or another day, sort them out by how much time they take. Then add them to your schedule! Try it, and see if it makes a difference for you.
